The first thing we learn in life is to love. This is our first need too and without that love we are nothing.

But if we receive a lot, we forget to say THANKS for all we have, all we are and all we become. How can we forget so easily these little simple words?

So I give you today a meditation or better, a prayer, because this is what it really is a...

GRATITUDE MEDITATION/PRAYER

Gratitude for being alive, gratitude for life itself, gratitude for freedom, gratitude for all our loved ones, friends; everything about spiritual or material levels.

In our world (past, present or futur), we receive so much!
It is time to be grateful, it is time to say

"THANK YOU... THANK YOU... THANK YOU GOD..."

To prove our gratitude for all the blessings He gives to all of us.

Let's begin this meditation.

Close your eyes.

Take a deep breath in. Hold it for the count of three, two, one,and let go. Letting go of all your cares and any concerns of the day. Just beginning to allow the stress and tension to begin now to fade away.

And in your own time, I'd like you to take three long deep breaths and when you've finished, just allow your breathing to return to normal again.

And now, paying attention to the breath. Watching the breath as it comes and goes.

Now I'd like you to find something in your life that can allow you to feel grateful, that can allow you to feel thankful, because it's impossible to feel stressed, it's impossible to feel frustrated; it's impossible to feel fearful when you're feeling that sense of gratitude.

Gratitude for being alive.

  • Feeling grateful for the organs of your body which keep you alive.

  • For your heart that beats without you having to think about it.

  • The power of your brain, the most powerful computer ever built, capable of answering any question you pose it, capable of bringing exactly what it is that you truly want at the deepest levels in your life, and how your cells replenish themselves.

Just feel that sense of love for the body that's keeping you alive. Just feel that sense of love for the body that's kept you alive in the past, that's keeping you alive now, and will continue to carry you through your life in the future.

You may begin to repeat a word to yourself. Perhaps,

  • Thank you

  • Thank you

  • Thank you

Or you can say

  • Thank you God

or

  • Thank you Life

or if you prefer you can just repeat the word,

  • Thank you.


Or whatever word feels appropriate for you, or you may continue paying attention to that feeling of gratitude.

And now I'd like you to think about all the people in your life. All the people you really care about:

  • Your friends,

  • Your partner perhaps or

  • Your children,

  • Family members,

  • Close friends.


And get a sense of what makes them special and how you've been blessed by their presence in your life.

And if you don't yet have those kinds of relationships, you can focus on the desire, the worthy desire to be with people and to experience loving relationships, knowing that the desire is something to be grateful for.

As you think about the people you care about in your life or just the desire to have those relationships, you can feel that sense of gratitude. You may begin to say the word you chose.

  • Thank you

  • Thank you

  • Thank you

  • Thank you

  • Thank you.


Or you may go back to feeling gratitude for your body, your health and the other areas where you've been blessed. Now I'd like you to begin to think about some of the other ways in which you've been blessed, some of the other ways in which you can be grateful.

Perhaps it's just some of the little luxuries you enjoy, being able to have a cup of coffee on Sunday morning, or having a car that can take you around from place to place, or even just having a little time for yourself.

And again you can repeat the word or just be aware of the feeling of gratitude.

    What about the freedoms you enjoy?

    Freedom of speech.

    If you're free from persecution.

    Free to live the life the way you choose.

    And again you can repeat the word

    • Thank you,

Or whatever is appropriate for you, or you can just pay attention to the feeling of gratitude.

Feeling grateful for the resources at your disposal, the roads, and the supermarkets where foods from all over the world can be purchased.

The many technologies that make our lives so much easier. The fact that you can talk to anyone, from just about anywhere you may find yourself in the world. And that even though times may be hard and there may be more month at the end of the money.

But with all these resources, all of these freedoms, you really are blessed.

And now, feeling grateful for life itself, for the beauty of life in all it's rich diversity.

    Grateful to your Self,

    Grateful to the Universe,

    God,

    Your Higher Power.

Whatever words are appropriate for you.
Feeling that sense of gratitude for all beings.

Be thankful that you don't already have everything you desire. If you did, what would there be to look forward to?

Be thankful when you don't know something, for it gives you the opportunity to learn.

Be thankful for the difficult times. During those times you grow.

Be thankful for your limitations, because they give you opportunities for improvement.

Be thankful for each new challenge, because it will build your strength and character.

Be thankful for your mistakes. They will teach you valuable lessons.

Be thankful when you're tired and weary, because it means you've made a difference.

It's easy to be thankful for the good things. A life of rich fulfillment comes to those who are also thankful for the setbacks.

Gratitude can turn a negative into a positive. Find a way to be thankful for your troubles, and they can become your blessings.
